Week one and two

                         Rules when Teaching

My first day in class helped me to understand the basic rules when teaching a child or a young vulnerable adult the most important points of the Child Protection order which are

  • Do not touch the child for example holding hands.
  • Do not share personal information with your student such as add them on Facebook or give phone number
  • Do not be alone with your student
  • If in doubt pass any information to your manger

In my opinion these are the most important points of the Protection order if not followed correctly you may be in a vulnerable situation. When looking further at different sources I discovered that the Gov website was the most relevant and easy to understand.

My first day was quite fun however I did not like the ice breakers challenges but it was quite comforting to find out that my tutor is also dyslexic as I have never met a dyslexic person pursuing a teaching career. It gives me more confidence to meet my future goals, which is to be a teacher.

Our creations from the ice breaker challenge this was my favourite challenge because it included drawing and using your imagination.

                                                                      Day Two

My second session in class was really interesting as we discussed what makes a good or bad teacher.

Good Teacher

What makes a good teacher in my opinion is someone who is more personal to you which makes you feel more confident to explain you have a problem or you do not understand the question in class.

A good teacher brings the lessons to life using different methods to make a boring math’s lessons more fun and exciting.

One method which I found helpful during my student years was when my teacher give the information of our lessons in splitting it up in chunks which helped me to understand easier and not feel overwhelmed which all this new information.

 Bad Teacher

A bad teacher is someone who isn’t a positive role model and tells you himself that he doesn’t want to be there.

A teacher who talks in a dull boring voice that makes you want to fall asleep in lesson.

One teacher my sister had used to frown books at the students and shout at them telling them to pick the book up in my idea this is the worst example of a teacher which I  have come across.

Peppered Moth

For our peppered moth activity we had a group session to split up the roles of each step my group volunteered to construct the moth. As one of our group members did not attend we had to split all the work between us making a list of all the things we needed was very helpful however we did not realize that it was such a big amount of materials we needed to produce the making of our Moth.

My job was to create visual aids to help the child picture what the peppred moth looked like and how it developed over time however when finding images of the peppered moth there was not a lot to choose from on the internet.

Visual aid one shows the Peppered moth how it should look before it change due to the pollution in the city.

Visual aid two shows how the moth has evolved from the pollution for example the change of colour which is much darker.
